FreaKii is a German Professional Rocket League Player. Playing for Gfinity Elite at the moment. But let’s FreaKii talk about himself. Go check out the interview quotes. There you will find his story and his mindset from a Rocket League Pro Player.
How do you became a proplayer?
I played rocket league for fun with friends and improved faster than them so after a while I found myself against high rated players. Eventually I found players I liked to play with more often and we tried out playing ESL and Gfinity and other community tournaments. We kind of had a fast improvement as a team and won a lot of stuff and made a name for ourselves. We got contacted by different orgs and started playing for them. That’s basically how I got into pro scene. It was just playing and playing to improve and getting the results to get known in the scene
Have you haver decided to be a pro player one day?
Yeah I never wanted to be a pro player. I worked full time and just played RL as a hobby and eventually got good enough for it.
What have you worked before?
I worked in a school for disabled children. Basically taking care of them and helping them to learn and improve daily mechanics. In April 2018 my contract there ended, it was like a 1 1/2 year civil year, and I joined Esports full time until now. I’m still full time atm.
Well working was waking up early and going to work, coming home late and play some video games. Now that esports is my full time job I can obviously have more time just for video games and sleep longer, it’s also easier to travel because I don’t need vacation off the full time work. Salary wise it was better to be in esports but esports is not safe for the future so always make sure to have something in your backhand you’re able to do when esports doesn’t work that well anymore.
Would you leave the gaming scene when there is no option anymore to stay?
I’d keep playing it for fun but not try to stay in it or build something else
What keeps you motivated??
It was fun at the start. Now it’s the drive to stay at the top, making a good amount of money to be able to save for the future but yeah fun is still a big part, wouldn’t play if I had no fun doing it. Don’t ever forget what brought you to the game and for most it is the fact that you enjoyed playing it so never lose the fun
How many hours do you play?
I try to have my 5-8 hours a day. More or less doesn’t feel right. Raging is a thing, I got more quite, I don’t rage when it matters I sometimes get annoyed playing with random teammates tho xD
With what type of players are you playing with?
Over the years you met different kind of players and people, I don’t have a favored type. I play with whoever I like, if they’re more depressive or negative that’s fine. I would say I’m more positive but also realistic.
But you will not for example push down or you’re playing isn’t effected of those who are thinking and speaking more negative?
No, I rather try hyping them up
Do you do any sports?
I did play football for multiple years before I started video gaming but because of strong injuries on my ankles I couldn’t do it anymore. And I’m honest right now I’m not really doing any sports, just trying to have a basic mix between going outside with friends and playing video games professionally
How important is this balance from playing video games and going out with friends? If you have to choose one thing video games or going outside with friends?
I couldn’t choose, both are parts of my life so I’d like to keep both. It’s just important to have a good balance to not lose yourself into one part. Playing video games is my job i do it for a living so. But if you have a normal job you don’t just work as well, you also go out with friends or do other stuff outside so just make sure to have a good mix otherwise you burn yourself out
Have you any goal for the future?
The basic stuff. Being able to afford a house and give your family a good lifestyle.
How did you find your team?
Just playing online you eventually find yourself.
Ok. So now the last question. Have you any advice for people who wants to become a pro player. Or in general a life advise? In gaming social life etc.?
You shouldn’t push to become a pro, it happens or it doesn’t. Give your best to improve but you can’t force it to happen
